What's it Like Being a PA Andover Swim Recruit?

For every swimmer out there, swimming is a hard sport. The amount of time you have to commit, and the sheer physicality every single practice demands is insane. As an international student from Hong Kong, I was practically overwhelmed by swimming every day before arriving at Andover, occupying over half of my life. But at Andover, I have much more freedom and flexibility to pursue my interests. Another thing to mention is that at Andover, swimming is a winter-only sport. This means that official swim practice with the head coach is only conducted over the winter term. That does not mean you can not swim over other terms, as open swim sessions and club training are still available. This article will go over my experiences over the first one and a half terms at Andover.

How I Balance an Intense School Schedule (IB Diploma) and Still Enjoy the "High School Experience"

Hello all readers, I am a student from Long Island New York enrolled in an International Baccalaureate Program. Students at my school, Portledge, frequently feel pressured to take up the "challenge" of the IB diploma, keeping in mind that the school does not offer many AP courses. I was one of the students who felt the pressure and gave in. Now I'm nearly halfway through my Junior year, playing three school sports (soccer, hockey, lacrosse), playing travel hockey for a AAA/AA team, attending all desirable social functions, and performing admirably in all of my classes. If you're a student in the IB diploma program or taking a lot of AP classes, you are undoubtedly wondering how this is feasible. It can feel that any extracurricular activity, even if it just meets for an hour on one day a week, can prevent you from having enough study time or finishing school tasks. I am here to share my story of how I balance between achieving ideal grades, studying for the ACT, playing sports, and loving life at the same time. Some of my strategies may appear counter-productive to many.

Service: The Action that makes the World Go Round

We have all been trained to serve. At some time or another, we have all prioritized the needs and wants of others over our own. For some, this may be a daily practice. Soldiers, firefighters, and doctors all put themselves in disfavorable situations to help others. The core reasoning for most who serve falls into two categories: helping the group and protecting an ideal. These heroes and role models all share an understanding that a well-functioning society requires interaction, assistance and often sacrifice. If the fortunate neglect the unfortunate and the adventurers forget about the timid, then our society will tip out of balance. That is why we all have a duty to serve others, and why sacrificial service is one of the most honorable things a person can do. Service is the act of prioritizing others over oneself by giving up time, energy, or resources.

    This is the Dead Land

Hi! This is my first entry on the platform, and it's just a snippet of my writing style as a microcosm of an SCP-esque universe exploring some of the more nitty-gritty and technical aspects of the Backrooms. It's very dialogue-based towards the end, but I've tried my best in making it passable. Hope y'all enjoy. - Alex

    Learning to code

I think just about everyone has considered learning to code before. Even if the word STEM brings tears to your eyes, there is something enticing about the idea of creating your own version of ChatGPT, or building a program that can beat you at chess, or making a bot that can download Youtube videos without ads.
